* REFLATIONS *
- A relation can be represented by an arrow diagram as shown above.
- P=domain/object={a,b}
- Q=codomain/image={1,2,3}
- range={1,3} (in other word we ca say that "range" is the codomain(Q) that have linked to domain(P).)
- each element in the range is an image of an object
Ia boleh dibahagikan kepada 4 categori :
*ONE to ONE
*ONE to MANY
*MANY to ONE
*MANY to MANY
*FUNCTION*
Function, f(x)refer to an equation that shows the object and image.
example:
The diagram below shows the function f(x)=y. the function f maps x to y.
domain= {-1,0,2}
codomain={1,3,4}
range={1,4}
by refering to the diagram, function f is defined by f(x)= x²
since f(x)= x²,
we can found that----> f(2)= 2²=4
we can found that----> f(2)= 2²=4
*COMPOSITE FUNCTION*
Two or more function can be combined to give a composite function.
example:
the function f and g are defined by f(x)=2x-3 and g(x)=x²+1 respectively.
find the composite function of fg.
fg(x)=2[g(x)]-3
=2(x²+1)-3
=2x²-1
*INVERSE FUNCTION*
If a function f maps x to y, then its inverse function ƒ−1
